As part of this project, I designed a customizable Shopify template along with a comprehensive component and section library to enable flexible, brand-adaptable website creation. To showcase the template’s versatility and design range, I created three fictional brands — each with a fully designed website using the same component system but featuring different visual styles, tones, and user experiences. This approach demonstrated the scalability and adaptability of the template for a variety of industries and brand identities. All content used in the template — including photos, text, and products — was either designed by me or generated with the help of AI tools.

Goal

Most e-commerce templates solve for either flexibility or aesthetics — rarely both. The challenge was to design a component system that could be handed to different brands and genuinely feel native to each, rather than just reskinned. The template needed to prove its range without relying on the assumption that a good layout is enough.

Solution

Three fictional brands and websites were designed from scratch using the same underlying component library, each with a distinct visual language and tone. Rather than creating edge cases, the brands were chosen to stress-test the system across different industries and audiences. The result demonstrates that a well-structured design system can carry identity — not just layout.
